About the RMD/LRMD
The Rosebank Management District (RMD) and the Lower Rosebank Management District (LRMD) are section 21 companies which manage the public space of Rosebank within the prescribed boundaries. The districts are in the heart of Rosebank's commercial and retail sector in which all property owners have agreed to provide supplementary services to those provided by the local council.
The RMD was initially a voluntary safe and clean initiative which was established in 1998 and in October 2000 the Rosebank Management District became the first improvement district to be legislated in Gauteng. After an extensive legislative process the LRMD was registered in December 2007, at which point the LRMD board took a decision to adopt the RMD look and feel. The two districts agreed to work collectively to serve all property owners and members within the extended district boundaries namely Oxford Road to the east, Bolton Road to the south, Jan Smuts Avenue to the west and Jellicoe Avenue to the north.
The initial focus of the RMD/LRMD was to create a clean and safe environment for visitors, shoppers, business and residents then to focus on’ place making’ which would ensure that visitors experience a truly memorable experience in a wonderfully green, friendly and special destination.
