What Rosebank Management District Security does

17 members of this staff are cleaners, who keep the streets and pavements clean on a daily basis. The islands on Bolton Road and Jellico Avenue are also kept green. Hundreds of refuse bags and illegal posters are also removed each month.

Here are some details from the latest reports:

  • On Saturday 12 December five African males attempted to steal a VW City Golf parked on Arnold Road. They were disturbed by our Public Safety Ambassador and the suspects fled the scene in two Honda Ballades.
  • On 21 February the PSAs assisted the police to arrest a person who refused to pay for petrol. He was taken to the police station.
  • Midway through February, a Rosebank PSA saw the suspect put a chain around a pole but no motor bike was there. The suspect then claimed his motor bike had been stolen. The PSA reported the matter to the police and the suspect was arrested.

Good relations are also kept with the police and Metro police, to keep the area safe and ensure bylaws are enforced.

On 23 February, Cary Pragdin of the Animal Emergency Clinic wrote in to thank the RMD team for their “incredible work” in helping to catch a man who paid for a cheap dog collar with a fake R200 note and fled with the change. He was caught at the Caltex Station and taken to the cops.

Local knowledge and assistance is also given out to the public on a daily basis by the RMD team. In December, these calls were logged: Hotels 681, Shops 603, Public Facilities 631, Transport 622, Banks 651, Tourist Attractions 656; a total of 3844 times the public was helped!

Yousuf Seedat, operations manager, said the RMD team regularly attends utilities meetings and as a result, faults in the areas – pavements, potholes, leaks etc - are attended to more rapidly than when a member of the public makes a private attempt to have a utility repaired.
