Rosebank has a thriving art scene with a number of galleries and dealers trading in all mediums along the 'art strip' which includes the more established Goodman and Kim Sacks galleries.

Outdoors

Rosebank is outdoors and pedestrian friendly – Due to its compact size, visitors, residents and employees are able to walk the area, enjoying the outdoor atmosphere, en route to their destination.

Growing

Rosebank's infrastructure projects and property developments augur well for the future of the node. Areas located directly around future Gautrain Stations are attracting great interest.

Key Phase of R850 Million Rosebank Project Opening in April

"Rosebank is one of the few urban areas of Johannesburg with a thriving street life. The enlarged The Zone@Rosebank aims to capitalise on, and enhance, the successful urban environment by drawing visitors to support the retail and entertainment facilities and hotel. The additions will expand the retail fashion mix and the dining and entertainment offering.
"The centre has been designed to facilitate pedestrian flows while allowing sufficient space for visitors to dine and mingle in the walkways. The entrance to the Gautrain station feeds directly into Tyrwhitt Avenue, between the existing Zone and Zone II. This creates a convenient access for Gautrain and BRT travellers.
"Pedestrian access to the development at ground level will be from Cradock and Tyrwhitt Avenues and on the upper levels, from the hotel and Zone I."
Wiltshire says the hotel which will have a pool, gymnasium, roof garden and conference facilities, will integrate with the retail component through sharing of common areas and the basement parking. "The site demands architectural recognition. At the intersection of Oxford Road and Tyrwhitt Avenue, the hotel suites are incorporated into a striking curved corner feature. Each suite is designed around its own individual shape, creating an impression of an undulating curvature that alters itself from floor to floor. A three-level glass and steel coned structure defines the corner between Woolworths in the existing Zone and the adjoining Admirals Court building."
Wiltshire says the development takes account of principles supported by the Green Building Council of South Africa for energy efficiency and environmental friendliness.
"It will incorporate a sophisticated air management system, energy-efficient central air conditioning, refuse recycling and a roof garden above the retail segment. We are also investigating new technology to generate electricity."
