Winter Exhibition At Everard Read Gallery

(28 Jun 2012 - 28 Jul 2012)

The Winter Exhibition provides a platform for an eclectic group of artists working in a variety of mediums to exhibit in the same space without having to be restricted to a theme or central concept. The idea behind the show is to open up the brief and allow for the individuality of each artist to emerge and bounce off that of the rest of the group.

The process of curating a show of this nature is a particularly interesting one, as it relies on connections and themes that run through the work of a quite diverse selection of artists. What surfaces in such a process is a glimpse of currents or ideas that are perhaps the product of a collective unconscious that belongs to all of the participating artists.

Works by over 30 artists will be exhibited including Phillemon Hlungwani, Neil Rodger, Anton Momberg, Velaphi Mzimba, Walter Voigt, Impumelelo Beads, Angus Taylor, Hanneke Benade, Pauline Gutter, Lionel Smit, Deborah Bell, Caryn Scrimgeour, Rina Stutzer, John Meyer and many more.

Date: 28 June - 28 July 2012
Opening: 6pm on 28 June 2012
